Our Community Agreements

Group Guidelines

    Abstinence
    This is a safe place for those who wish to continue, and/or build on their abstinence from Crystal Meth.

    Respect
    SOS respects all identities and recovery journeys. SOS is a closed group for gay, queer, bisexual men, trans-masculine/men, and nonbinary/genderfluid AMAB individuals. There are many tools & options that help people reach their goals; all ideas are welcome & will be supported.

    Attendance
    This is a drop-in group; regular attendance is not required, although highly recommended.
  4. 4
    Punctuality
    If you are going to be late, please enter quietly, and wait until an appropriate time to enter discussion.

    Listening & Sharing
    An open & authentic atmosphere is provided to encourage members to share their truth at the level that is appropriate for them. Allow others to share their feelings and/or experiences freely. Learn to listen so others can learn. Comments are allowed after the speaker is finished, and should be made in the form of “I statements.”

    Relapse
    You are encouraged to talk about any relapse in group for the benefit of learning and growth. You will not be shamed or thrown out of group if you relapse.

    Discussions of Sexuality
    Discussions revolve around crystal use, sexual behaviors, struggling with sexual compulsion, and/or sex as a trigger for crystal use. This is not a pick-up joint! Please respect each other’s sexual boundaries & feel free to discuss this with the facilitator or moderator.

    Confidentiality
    What is said in group stays in group! All discussion Must Remain Strictly Confidential. It is permissible to share your own experience of the group. If you have an unexpected run-in with other members outside of group, please respect each other’s confidentiality.

    Non-Discrimination
    Discrimination of any kind is not allowed in SOS meetings. No homophobia, no transphobia, no racism, no ageism, no ableism, or other discriminatory language or behavior is allowed.

    Individual Responsibility
    Please be mindful of the energy you bring into the room. We all have a shared responsibility of promoting safety, health and growth in our meetings.
