Strength Over Speed
A safe place for gay, bisexual, and queer men who struggle with their
crystal meth use. Whether you’re already in recovery, trying to quit, or just thinking
about quitting — we understand where you’re coming from.
We’ve been there too.
“Everyone’s recovery is unique… Build your own recovery journey by focusing on who you were, who you are, and who you want to become.”

Welcome
You’ve come to the right place
At SOS, we share personal stories and information without judgment. Whether you’re already in recovery, trying to quit, or just thinking about quitting — here are some ways we can help:
Come to a Meeting
Free peer-led support groups meet weekly in Seattle and online. All are welcome regardless of where you are in recovery.

SOS groups are open discussion — no cross-talk rules. Talk openly about your journey, ask questions, and hear from others who get it.

Counseling, crisis lines, HIV testing, support groups, and more — there are many options in the community beyond SOS.

A grassroots community built by and for us
Strength Over Speed (SOS) began in 2005 as a group of peers who graduated from other crystal meth recovery programs but felt they needed something more. At the time, there were few options for queer men who wanted alternatives to 12-step programs.
Today, SOS is an all-volunteer, community-based project with multiple weekly peer-led support groups in Seattle, both in-person and online. We believe peer support is a foundational part of life in recovery.
We do not promote one path of recovery over another. We welcome everyone at any stage of their journey.
